January 2018 Portrait of the Month - Jakob Frenkiel

Jakob Frenkiel

This month we are featuring a beautiful and sweet portrait of Jakob Frenkiel. India O. created this portrait at Loggers' Run Middle School in Boca Raton, Florida and reflected on her experience:

How did it feel to spend so much time observing a photograph and then making art based on the photo?
I could see the picture slowly piecing together and coming to life, and as soon as I turned the picture right side up, I could see how lively it looked, and could understand the expression and personality of the photographed person.

Write a caption for the portrait that you made. It can say something about the person or something about your feelings making the portrait.
“Jakob Frenkiel, the boy who was determined and full of courage. He was stubborn yet loving, and never gave up.”

What did you like and dislike about the art experience?
I liked that I learned a new technique to drawing, and that I learned more about shadowing, contouring and dimension. I only disliked how messy my hands got.

What do you think you will remember about this experience? Why?
Everything; I can use the information to use for my future as an artist. I learned how to put the personality and life into the picture, and connected with the picture.
