December 2017 Portrait of the Month - Henry Maslowicz

Portrait of Henry Maslowicz

Henry Maslowicz

Honoring Henry Maslowicz during his birthday month. Henry was only two years old when his father was forced to send him away for his own safety. He was first sent to a convent, but was left on the street where a woman found him and took him home to hide. Henry survived and amazingly, was reunited with his father in Israel after the Holocaust. Students have really connected with Henry at workshops around the world. Here are some of their poignant thoughts about this young child:

"It felt very powerful and emotional. I felt like I was really talking with the boy."

"I will remember the connection I had with the boy. I have taken dozens of holocaust courses and in this one, I was really able to feel and Imagine."

"I will remember Henry's story because it was so touching and melancholy.”
