November 2014 Portrait of the Month: Holocaust Survivor Dora Zylberberg as Drawn by Jordan R.

The portrait we selected as November Portrait of the Month is by 10th grader Jordan R. from St. Petersburg, Florida. She likes making art, but this technique was unusual for her. Check out her haunting portrait of Dora Zylberberg (above).

We love the way Dora’s face emerges from the shadow and the sensitivity of the lips.

Feel free to write and tell us what YOU like about the portrait! Look at the image for a moment. What does it make you think of? How does it make you feel?

And try it yourself. The same lesson the students took is here.
