October 2021 Portrait of the Month — Moishe Felman
Moishe Felman
October's featured portrait of Moishe Felman was created by Hannah S. at Boca Raton High School in Florida. She reflected on her experience and shared her thoughts with us:
How did it feel to spend so much time observing a photograph and then making art based on the photo?
I began to view Holocaust victims lives from a new perspective. Turning portraits into art is yet another vehicle for Holocaust stories to live on so we can always “remember” and work toward achieving “Never Again.”
Write a caption for the portrait that you made. It can say something about the person or something about your feelings making the portrait.
“The Fall of Felman”
What did you like and dislike about the art experience?
I like the opportunity to do quality art as I didn’t take an art class this year. I disliked how I could only have time to complete one portrait.
What do you think you will remember about this experience? Why?
I will remember how there are so many ways to learn and teach about the Holocaust, including bot not limited to writing, poems, books, films, art, story-telling etc.
