July 2015 Portrait of the Month - Dora Zylberberg

Dora Zylberberg Portrait of the Month

Dora Zylberberg

Jordan from Bayshore Christian Academy created this portrait and reflected on the experience:

How did it feel to spend so much time observing a photograph and then making art based on the photo?

It was definitely a new experience. I have never done anything like that before! It was fun and emotional at times, and I felt connected to the unknown victims.

What did you like and dislike about the art experience?

I loved all of the art and being able to draw the portrait, but pastel is definitely messy! I think my fingers are permanently black now.

What do you think you will remember about this experience? Why?

I think I’ll remember my pastel drawing the most. It was saddening to think that millions of people have been forgotten or remained unidentified.
