International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2017
January 27th is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this date 72 years ago, Russian troops liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. The date is commemorated by more than 20 countries worldwide with exhibits, film screenings, talks, and ceremonies. We invite you to personally commemorate the day.
You could:
1) Use our simple art lesson to make a portrait of a Holocaust survivor or victim.
2) View the portraits people all over the world have made in our portrait gallery.
3) Read the story of a Holocaust victim or survivor.
Creativity, compassion and connection. That’s our prescription for honoring the past and promoting unity and social justice in the present.
