An Exciting Family Connection

The Institute for Holocaust Education in Omaha, Nebraska included a Memory Project workshop in their Art and the Holocaust program. When Sina Blanker, a survivor from their community, visited the Institute to look at the finished art projects, she was excited to recognize one of them as her father, Simon Gelbart. It is so meaningful to hear that the work we do gets back to family members of our subjects. In honor of this exciting discovery, we are featuring the portrait of Simon created at the workshop as January's Portrait of the Month. Read more about Simon on our Portrait of the Month page.
